Every Long Night of German Wine is different. Number XV (we counted again, and yes the number is right) started slow, but after a couple of hours we were really rolling!
This time we had a great mix of people from Berlin, other parts of Europe and New York, of long-time participants and people I’d never seen before. And that is exactly how it should be!
This time our guest winemakers were The 13 Breisgauer Weingüter from the still drastically underrated Breisgau sub-region of Baden. Their wines impressed just about everyone with their combination of bright aromas, freshness and depth.

Friday evening I met with the 13 Breisgauer Weingüter in Weinstein for a very dry and serious meeting...
The Long Night of German Wine has a twofold purpose: to collect donation for WEIN HILFT (see www.weinhilft.de – sadly only in German at present) and to have as much fun as possible with the best German wines. And this year it worked again!

Suzanne Winter of Restaurant Hearth in New York got to taste her brith year. Like everybody else she thought that the 1988 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese "Gold Cap" was pretty sensational !
A very important date for your diaries: Long Night of German Wine NYC II, 11pm on Thursday, May 10th 2012 @ Restaurant Hearth, 403 East 12th Street (at First Ave.) Manhattan. SEE YOU THERE !
Stuart,
Jess Watsky from the Long Night NYC- thanks for an extremely memorable evening! So many amazing wines (and it was a real treat to have a quadruple-threat from my birth year!!) Hope to see you in Berlin soon- we’ll be in Paris for a few months this fall and should get together again!
Best,
Jess
